Around the start of every year, gyms send out a bombardment of advertisements trying to lure you in with cheap specials to join their facilities in case you packed on some pounds over the holidays, some, no doubt, with the hope that you’ll come once and never return, yet still have to pay their fees. Others focus on the spring, with the promises of getting your body “bikini ready.” However, exercise should be a year-round pursuit, not just a New Year’s resolution or a way to fit into a bathing suit. In fact, despite what the gym advertisements with their perfect looking models would have you believe, exercise is about much more than looks, and wanting to start an exercise routine doesn’t mean that you have to want to be a certain dress size or fit into an outfit for a special occasion.
